Jinggoy yields in senatorial race; JV tweets ‘I really am the good one’

MANILA, Philippines — Jinggoy Estrada has conceded defeat in the 2019 midterm elections’ senatorial race.

Estrada took to Facebook to thank his supporters and congratulate other senatorial candidates who made it to the “Magic 12.”

Partial and official tally by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Thursday night showed Estrada ranks 15th, garnering 8,654,021 votes.

Meanwhile, his half-brother Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito ranked higher than him at No. 14 with 10,984,412 votes.

In his Facebook post Thursday, Estrada particularly greeted reelectionist Senator Nancy Binay, saying: “Kay Sen. Nancy, alam ko marami ka pang magagawa sa Senado na makakatulong sa ating mga kababayang mahihirap. Keep it up! You deserve to keep the 12th spot because you have a very big heart for the poor and you are the BETTER person among others. Congratulations my friend.”

‘I really am the Good One’

Meanwhile, Ejercito – without mentioning any name – said in a Twitter post: “And I really am the Good One.”

He also wrote in another post: “Bitter.”

Estrada and Ejercito, who reportedly had a feud over who among them should run in the Senate race, launched their bid to become senator again under the Hugpong ng Pagbabago regional party founded by presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. (Editor: Katherine G. Adraneda)
