2 Pampanga village chiefs ambushed after witnessing peace covenant

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Two village chiefs of Apalit town, Pampanga were ambushed after attending the signing of peace covenants among gubernatorial candidates at the Metropolitan Cathedral here.

The barangay captains were traveling along the Sto. Tomas-Minalin route when the unidentified gunmen opened fire at past 4 p.m.

Supt. Elmer Decena, Apalit police chief, did not identify the victims as they were secured in a hospital where they were being treated for bullet wounds.

They were heading home when they were attacked by the assailants, police said./lzb
