Cop shoots, arrests jailbreaker holding metal spoon
MANILA, Philippines — An inmate was shot on his shoulder after he attempted to escape the Custodial Facility of Las Piñas Police while holding a metal spoon, a police report showed on Sunday.
The suspect was identified as Julio Pacot, 46, a resident of Bacoor City, Cavite. He has a pending case in violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
According to the report, duty jail officer Police Officer 3 Drandred Borde opened the steel door and sent out Pacot for booking procedure purposes in relation for bailbond.
However, Pacot managed to get out of the cell and grabbed a metal spoon placed on top of a table and continued to escape.
Borde chased the suspect until he cornered him at the second floor of the Commission on Elections building.
Thinking that Pacot was “overpowered” due to the metal spoon he was holding, Borde’s fellow policeman shot the suspect in his shoulder in order to disable him.
