Fire hits ship carrying LPG cylinders in Zamboanga City

MANILA, Philippines — A cargo ship carrying cylinders of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanks exploded at the Petron Private Wharf in Zamboanga City on Sunday morning, according to a Philippine Coast Guard report issued on Sunday.

At about 8:40 a.m., a fire of still undetermined origin hit the ML NS Express, a wooden hull cargo vessel, while docked at wharf, which is located at Baliwasan Sea-sea.

The fire was immediately declared out with the quick response of firefighters from the PCG, Bureau of Fire Protection, and volunteer groups.

No one was reported hurt from the incident, the PCG said.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation, it added. /atm
