2 drug suspects killed in Bulacan buy-busts

CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan – Two drug suspects were killed when they fired at policemen during anti-criminality operations in this province on Monday morning.

Bulacan police director Sr. Supt. Chito Bersaluna said John Michael Cabigting died in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tawiran around 12:05 a.m. Cabigting, a resident of Barangay Lawa, Obando town, was included in the drug watch list and continued selling drugs despite previously surrendering to police’s “Oplan Tokhang.”

In a separate buy-bust operation, police said an alias “Mark” of Barangay Makapilapil, San Ildefonso town was also killed. Mark and his companion Lito Vitangcol were on board a motorcycle when they resisted arrest, firing at policemen around 12:46 a.m.

Vitangcol managed to escape, police said.

Investigators recovered from the slain suspects several firearms, “shabu” (crystal meth), and drug paraphernalia. /kga
