MANILA, Philippines — During the New Year’s eve celebration, there were more victims of stabbing and vehicular accidents brought to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) than firecracker-related cases, an official of the hospital said Tuesday.

Dr. Emmanuel Bueno, chief of the EAMC, said that the hospital saw an increase of trauma patients during the New Year’s eve revelries on Monday night.

“Actually, after nung 12:00 kagabi, we have only two firecracker-related cases. Kalakip nyan yung pag-increase ng ating trauma patients like nasasaksak and vehicular accidents,” Bueno said in a press conference at EAMC.

“Talagang maganda yung nangyari ngayon dahil sa we have experienced a lower firecracker-related injuries,” Bueno said.

The EAMC chief also noted that cases of medical conditions such as strokes, hypertension and gastroenteritis were also monitored by the hospital this year, which is a usual occurrence during the holiday season.

“‘Yung mga medical conditions natin hindi natin po naiiwasan. Nandyan pa rin po sila,” he said. /jpv
