Chief Supt. Joel Napoleon Coronel, director of the Central Luzon police, told INQUIRER.net on Friday that they already have the name of the gunman, but he refused to disclose more details as the police eye his immediate arrest and the identification of the crime’s mastermind.
“Yes, [we know his identity], but we cannot disclose it at this time because intelligence operations are ongoing and we are hoping that we will be able to arrest [him] very soon,” he said.
Coronel said the regional police are coordinating with the National Bureau of Investigation, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and the intelligence group of the Philippine National Police to locate the suspect’s whereabouts.
According to Coronel, the composite sketch of the gunman, his getaway vehicle with another accomplice, and footage of the closed-circuit television camera in the vicinity helped them identify Sytin’s killer.
