NEW YORK, United States — Now that’s a proposal story!

The New York Police Department (NYPD) says an English couple who lost an engagement ring down a Times Square utility grate will get it back.

The NYPD had been looking for the couple since Saturday, after getting the ring out of the grate.

The man and woman were in Times Square late Friday night, when the man proposed to his girlfriend at 11:55 p.m.

However, police said, the man dropped the ring during the proposal and it fell through a utility grate.

They asked for help, but police were initially unsuccessful at getting the ring out.

On Saturday, police recovered the ring but the man and woman had left without leaving their names or contact information.

The NYPD posted on social media and the couple, who had returned to England, got in touch with them over social media.

The police said the couple would be getting the ring back soon. /cbb
