Palace: Faeldon’s appointment paper to ‘come out soon’

Malacañang on Tuesday clarified that the appointment paper of Deputy Administrator of the Office of Civil Defense Nicanor Faeldon as the new Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief will come out soon.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo made the statement after Faeldon’s legal counsel, lawyer Jose Diño, Jr., clarified that he cannot assume his new position at the BuCor because he has yet to receive notice from Malacañang.

“It takes time processing the appointment papers. That should come out soon,” Panelo told Palace reporters in a text message.

Last week, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said Faeldon “has not showed up or said anything” after being named as the new BuCor chief.

The BuCor is one of the agencies attached to the Department of Justice.

“I have no idea why. I have mentioned this fact to the Executive Secretary during the Cabinet meeting last Tuesday. He said he would mention it to the President,” Guevarra said Friday.

Faeldon is set to replace former BuCor chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who recently resigned after filing his of candidacy for senator in the 2019 midterm elections.  /muf
