Of the 8,701 examinees, only 8,158 were able to take the first of the four Bar exams as 543 of them failed to show up last Sunday based on records from the Office of the Bar Confidant (OBC).

Under the rules, those who failed to appear on the first Sunday of the examination will no longer be allowed to take the succeeding exams set in the next three consecutive Sundays.

There are eight subjects covered by the four-Sunday examination: Political and International Law (morning) and Labor and Social Legislation (afternoon) for the first Sunday; Civil Law (morning) and Taxation (afternoon) for the second Sunday; Mercantile Law (morning) and Criminal Law (afternoon) for the third Sunday; and Remedial Law (morning) and legal Ethics and Practical Exercises (afternoon) for the fourth Sunday.
