CITY OF MALOLOS — Residents of this Bulacan capital were asked to be patient with slow traffic that has been attributed to the P2.4-billion Bulacan Bulk Water System (BBWS) project.

“The discomfort would be temporary and would be worth the wait,” because the BBWS project would improve water services for more than three million people in Bulacan, said Gov. Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado at a Saturday (Oct. 20) news conference.

Motorists have complained about unattended road excavations from the city of Meycuayan to the Bulacan towns of Marilao, Bocaue, Balagtas and Guiguinto, despite the completion of the BBWS sections there. But on Friday (Oct. 19), work crews began digging up Malolos roads.

Malolos hosts various universities and serves as the provincial government center.

BBWS is being developed by the San Miguel Corporation under a public-private-partnership arrangement with the Manila Waterworks and Sewerage System. Began in 2016, the project has been putting up a piping systems that would deliver water collected at the Angat reservoir to Bulacan residents at a rate of P17 per cubic meter, Alvarado said. /je
