45 families homeless after fire in Litex, Quezon City

About 45 families were left homeless after a fire razed some 20 homes behind the Litex Market in Quezon City Tuesday early morning, the Quezon City Fire District (QCFD) reported.

Senior Fire Officer II Wilson Bautista said the fire started at the second floor of a two-story residential building at 2:11 a.m which was owned by a certain Jethro de Opos.

The fire was raised to the second alarm a few minutes later and the QCFD declared the fire out at 2:53 a.m.

Bautista said the fire spread quickly because the houses were made of light materials. Over P300,000 worth of damage was reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but the QCFD said it originated from a room owned by a certain Maria Cardino. /cbb
