Freddie Aguilar files COC for Senate bid
Folk music icon Ferdinand “Freddie” Aguilar filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Thursday as he seeks a Senate seat in the 2019 midterm polls.
Aguilar said he was convinced by “ordinary people” to run for politics for many years now. He said he will be running under the banner of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban)
He added that he has also been pushing for change in the society through his music.

“Dahil sa kagustuhan ko pong tuluy-tuloy ang pagbabago ay tumakbo na rin po para tumulong sa bayan natin (Because of my desire to continue the change, I have decided to run to help the country),” he told reporters.
Article continues after this advertisementAsked about his chances on landing a Senate seat, Aguilar said: “Di ko po alam ‘yan. Ang mahal na Allah na lang po ang magsasabi kung saan ako pupulutin (I don’t know. Allah will be the one to dictate where I will go).”
Article continues after this advertisement“Marami po (A lot).” Aguilar said when asked what he intends to do at Congress should he get elected.
He even mentioned his iconic song “Katarungan (Justice),” which he said calls for justice in the country.
Aguilar added that his supporters are also the supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte. /muf
