WATCH: Is Boracay ready for tourists again?
Around a month before the scheduled soft opening of world-renowned Boracay island to tourists, road works remained incomplete.
A video sent to INQUIRER.net shows construction of roads are still ongoing even as waters of Boracay now looked pristine and litter-free.
The video, taken on September 25, showed road excavations surrounded by large chunk of rocks and cement as well as exposed water pipes.
The government decided to close down Boracay for rehabilitation as President Rodrigo Duterte likened the famous tourist destination to a “cesspool” amid various environmental problems hounding the island. There have been notable violations by establishments on environmental and zoning laws, including the dumping of sewage into the sea.
