Bam Aquino: ‘Martial law will never solve nation’s woes’
Martial law will never solve the problems of the country.
Opposition Senator Bam Aquino said this on Friday as the nation commemorates the 46th anniversary of the martial law declaration by the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
Aquino lamented that during the martial law era, Filipinos extremely suffered from poverty and rising prices on goods, especially rice.
“Ngayong nauulit ang bangungot ng nakaraan, oras na para magising sa katotohanan na kailanman, hindi sagot ang martial law sa problema ng bayan,” he said in a statement.
(Now that the nightmare of the past is being repeated, it’s time to wake up to the truth that martial law will never be the answer to the country’s problem.)
“Pagkakaisa, pagtutulungan ang kailangan. Isantabi ang pulitika at unahin ang bayan (What we need are unity and cooperation. Set aside politics and put the nation first) ,” he said.
