Pichay confident Revilla will win Senate seat in 2019
House Deputy Speaker Prospero Pichay Jr. on Friday said he is confident that detained former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., their party’s “best bet,” would win in the 2019 senatorial race once he decides to run.
Pichay, who is also Lakas-CMD’s senior vice president, said he and other party members visited Revilla recently and said the latter would bare his political plans on Sept. 25.
“We will know on his birthday next week but I’m confident he will win,” Pichay told INQUIRER.net in a text message.
Pressed if he believes Revilla is their party’s best bet, Pichay said: “Yes and we are considering others and I’m not at liberty to divulge their names.”
The lawmaker had already said that aside from Revilla, Lakas is also considering former senatorial candidate and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez as a possible contender.
Romualdez is the president of Lakas while Revilla is chairman.
Revilla is currently detained at Camp Crame in Quezon City for plunder. /muf
