Duterte to conduct aerial inspection of flood-hit areas in Metro Manila

President Rodrigo Duterte will conduct an aerial inspection of the areas affected by floods caused by persistent heavy rains in Metro Manila and Rizal, Malacañang said on Monday.

In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte has ordered all government agencies to intensify the services they will provide for affected families.

Roque also urged the public to be alert and safe during these times of inclement weather.

“Patuloy po ang aming pagpaalala sa publiko na maging alerto at ligtas. Mamayang hapon ay personal na titignan ng Pangulo ang mga binahang lugar sa Metro Manila,” Roque told reporters.

“Kanyang ipinag-utos sa mga ahensya ng gobyerno na paigtingin ang mga serbisyo sa mga naapektuhan at siguraduhin ang kaligtasan ng lahat,” he said.

Over the weekend, a continuous downpour of heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon caused severe flooding in cities across Metro Manila.   /vvp
