Evacuation efforts underway as second alarm raised at Marikina River
The Marikina City government has started evacuation efforts as the second alarm was raised at the Marikina River.
The river’s water level below the Sto. Nino Bridge reached 16.0 meters above sea level at 1:22 p.m. on Tuesday as the southwest monsoon, enhanced by Tropical Depression “Henry,” continues to dump heavy rainfall over Metro Manila.
Local authorities are now asking residents to leave their homes and evacuate to designated centers, but a forced evacuation is not yet in place.
The local government would only declare a forced evacuation once the third alarm is raised and the Marikina River water level reaches 18.0 meters.
