Guevarra: DOJ to assist in investigating killing of former Cebu prosecutor
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said on Tuesday the Department of Justice is ready to assist in the investigation into the killing of former Cebu Assistant City Prosecutor Salvador Soliman.
“We at the Department of Justice (DOJ) are saddened by his tragic death and we are ready to assist the police in solving the case,” Guevarra said.
Soliman, who retired in 1998, was killed on Monday in Cebu City.
Armed men barged into his home and shot him and his wife Pastora Soliman, who remains in the hospital.
Guevarra believes that Soliman’s murder was not related to his work as a former prosecutor.
“I don’t think the murder had anything to do with his duties when he was still a prosecutor 20 years ago,” Guevarra told media. — Daphnie Beltran/INQUIRER.net Intern
