Sen. Grace Poe on Monday gave her “final thank you” to former National Security Adviser and Rep. Roilo Golez.
“We have lost a freedom fighter and accomplished public servant,” Poe said in a statement.
Golez succumbed to heart attack on Monday before his scheduled interview with ANC. He was 71 years old.
“He stood as vanguard in our fight for our sovereignty rights in the West Philippine Sea, and tirelessly shared his views to help enlighten Filipinos about this issue,” Poe said.
The senator noted that Golez’s ideas and advocacy “helped shape the country’s national security policy.”
“He was among the few who can talk authoritatively about geopolitics, economics, science, national security and government,” she said. /atm
