Parts of the country will experience rain brought by the southwest monsoon still enhanced by Typhoon “Domeng,” which exited the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) Sunday, the weather bureau said Monday.
“‘Yong binabantayan nating bagyong Domeng ay kahapon ng umaga lumabas ng Philippine area of responsibility, pero ini-enhance niya ang ating southwest monsoon o Habagat,” said Weather Specialist Shelly Ignacio of the Philippine Atmospherical, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, Pagasa warned residents in Luzon, including Metro Manila, of possible flooding and landslides as a result of moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall.
Pagasa added that cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms would persist over Western Visayan provinces, while Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas would experience isolated rain showers.
Domeng left the PAR on Sunday at about 9:30 a.m. As of 3 a.m. Monday, the typhoon was 1,770 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour (kph), and gustiness of up to 120 kph. Domeng was moving east-northeast at a speed of 23 kph.
