Tropical Storm “Domeng” intensified into a typhoon and is now out the Philippine area of responsibility, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.

Typhoon Domeng exited the Philippine area of responsibility at about 9:30 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Despite this, Domeng will continue to bring monsoon rain over Luzon, particularly over the western section until early next week.

Domeng currently has maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph.

It is forecast to move northeast at a speed of 37 kph. The Pagasa predicted that it would be 1,670 km northeast of Basco, Batanes, by Monday morning.

Pagasa advised the public to monitor weather updates, to take extra precaution for possible flashflood and landslides, and to coordinate with local authorities and offices.

It also said that sea travel remained risky along the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon, the seaboards of Central Luzon, and the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon. /cbb
