SAN PEDRO CITY – A suspected illegal drug pusher was killed in a police operation after resisting arrest in Mataas na Kahoy town in Batangas province on Thursday morning.

Gerween Abla, who was included in the police watchlist for drug personalities, had previously surrendered to the government’s anti-drug program but eventually returned to his illegal activity.

Abla was the target of a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calingatan around 6:30 a.m., according to Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, Calabarzon police director

Instead of yielding, Abla opened fire, forcing the police to shoot him back.

Abla suffered a bullet wound. He died while being taken to the Metro San Jose Hospital, the police said.

Recovered from the suspect were a caliber .45 gun and two sachets of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth). MARICAR CINCO
