Pantino earns 2 semifinal seats
CEBU’S top netters advanced to the semifinal and quarterfinal rounds of the MILO Junior Tennis Cup Visayas leg in Consolacion.
Arthur Craig “Igi” Diaz Pantino claimed two semis slots in the 10-under unisex and 12-under boys.
Pantino, the 10 under defending champion routed Karl Go, 6-0, 6-0, in the quarterfinals to set a semis date vs. John Pepito who defeated Adrian Kinaadman, 6-4, 6-4.
The other semis will have Palawan’s Sebastian Santos vs. Marc Suson. Santos nipped Daren Navasquez, 6-4, 6-4, while Suson dumped Jaecel Bornia, 6-0, 6-0.
In the 12-under boys, Pantino will meet Clyde Dujali in the semis after blanking Hugo Tudtud, 6-0, 6-0.
The other semis match will have top netter Jan Godfrey Seno who won against Manuel Navales, 6-0, 6-0. He will go up against Jodie Balundo who beat Rex Toledo, 6-0, 7-6.
Seno has a chance to make it a double after making the Final Four in the 14-under boys following his 6-0, 6-1 win over Balundo. He will face Sebastian Caguco next who toppled Earl Cagampang, 6-0, 6-3.
Article continues after this advertisementAlso advancing to the semis were Joshua Kinaadman who outsmarted Kalaze Bugtae, 6-3, 6-1, and Justin Asilo who defeated Dujali, 6-0, 6-3.
The 16-under boys semifinalists are Dwayne Sarculas, Ralp Juliani, Fritz Satera and Mark Enriquez.
Sarculas bested Asilo, 6-0, 6-3; Juliani routed Bran Mangapis, 6-0, 6-1; Satera bombed Francis Parangan, 6-2, 6-1; and Enriquez trounced Clyde Bienes, 6-2, 6-3.
Parangan though marched to the 18 under semis after bashing Peter Minoza, 6-2, 6-4. He will next face Mangapis who dismissed Amado Lominoque, 6-0, (4-6), 10-6. Brigle Mancol will contest the remaining finals ticket against Troy Pintor after taking out Francis Otada, 6-4, 6-4. Pintorbooted out Mark Bienes, 6-3, 6-1. CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
