Comelec: 94.01 percent of villages have proclaimed winning bets

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) disclosed on Tuesday afternoon that 94.01 percent of all barangays nationwide have concluded their respective polls in the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez said that 94.01 percent of all 42,044 barangays in the country have finished polling and have proclaimed their respective winning candidates.

Jimenez said local Comelec offices in two regions—Central Luzon and Central Visayas—have both reported a 100 percent completion of polls and proclamations.

“Overall, malapit na matapos. Hopefully, by 8 p.m. tonight, tapos na tayo. If not, very close,” Jimenez told reporters in an interview on Tuesday.

The complete turnout of voters, Jimenez said, has yet to be determined as not all precincts have proclaimed winners. /muf
