Two people died while four others were hurt when a passenger van crashed into a 14-wheel truck on a portion of the the North Luzon Expressway in Valenzuela City on Sunday morning.
PO1 Kristine Palatao of the Valenzuela traffic police administration office identified the fatalities as Louie Ogalesco, 46, and Rachelle Luna, 33.
The truck driver, Ronaldo Mangahan, was detained, pending an investigation despite the fact that it was the van that crashed into his vehicle.
Palatao said this was part of regular protocol “because people died in the accident.”
Van driver Joselito Antonio, 41, and three passengers identified as Ralph Ryan Ramos, 28; Lyralyn Olay, 20; and Rannie Torres Empod, 20; were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation, Palatao said. —Aie Balagtas See
