MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring rains over most parts of Mindanao on Monday, November 25, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In a weather advisory on Sunday afternoon, weather specialist Ana Clauren-Jorda said the ITCZ would bring scattered rains, lightning, and thunder over Caraga and Davao Region.
The rest of Mindanao would experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.
“So we advise extra caution for our fellow citizens, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous regions,” Jorda said in a live forecast.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, or amihan, will still bring “cloudy skies with rains throughout the day” over Batanes and Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands and Apayao,” she added.
Localized thunderstorms will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila and the rest of the country on Monday afternoon, according to Jorda.
“We are not currently monitoring any low-pressure area or typhoon that could potentially affect our country,” she added.
The state weather bureau raised a gale warning over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon on Sunday afternoon.
It will affect coastal areas in Batanes, the northern coast of Cagayan (Santa Teresita, Buguey, Aparri, and Ballesteros) including Babuyan Islands, and the northern coast of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Bangui, and Burgos).
