MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and rain showers are expected over Extreme Northern Luzon on Sunday due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, according to the state weather bureau.

In its morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said (Pagasa) amihan will particularly affect Batanes and Cagayan.

On the other hand, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will also bring rain and thunderstorms over the eastern portion of Mindanao.

(We are not monitoring or we have not seen any storm or LPA that might affect the country.)

Due to the effects of amihan, Pagasa placed the following areas under a gale warning:

  • Batanes
  • The northern portion of Cagayan including the Babuyan Islands
  • The northern portion of Ilocos Norte
