No demand from Duterte for Teo to resign – lawyer

The lawyer of Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo denied on Tuesday that President Rodrigo Duterte fired the tourism chief.
“Nakausap ko po Si Secretary Wanda kaninang 5:30 a.m. at bagamat nag-usap sila ni Pangulo ay wala namang demand mula sa Pangulo na siya ay mag-resign,” lawyer Ferdinand Topacio said in a radio dzMM interview.
Topacio, quoting Teo, said the meeting between Duterte and the tourism chief after the Cabinet meeting on Monday night was “cordial.”
“Wala naman pong sinabi na ikaw [Teo] ay mag-resign ka na or anything of that matter,” Topacio said.
A Manila broadsheet reported on Tuesday that Duterte has fired Teo following the P60-million controversial tourism ad. /kga
