Dir. Gen. Oscar Albayalde, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), on Monday dared police officers who had been bashing him on social media to tell him personally the things they had been posting against him in social media.

“I’ll see kung gusto nila humarap [if they wanted to face me] or they are brave enough to face the chief PNP, then it’s okay,” Albayalde said in an interview.

“Siguro harap-harapan nilang sabihin yung sinasabi nila sa Facebook. If they want to talk to me straight, then they talk to me straight. Kung gusto nila akong murahin doon sa then they do it provided na gawin nila yan harap-harapan, hindi yung patalikod,” he added.

[I think they should say straight to my face what they have been saying about me on Facebook. If they want to talk to me straight, then they talk to me straight, if they want to curse me there then they do it provided they tell it to me personally, not behind my back.]

Last month, Albayalde ordered the Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management (DICTM) to identify police officers who had spoken ill of him on a Facebook page, Buhay Lespu (Life of a Policeman).

The police officers were apparently questioning Albayalde’s capacity to lead the 190,000-strong PNP.
