MRT-3 train offloads 800 riders due to mechanical failure
Operations at the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) were briefly put to a halt after a southbound train stalled at GMA-Kamuning Station on Monday afternoon.
MRT-3 media relations officer Aly Narvaez said that the train was forced to unload about 800 passengers at the station due to a mechanical failure at 5:19 p.m.
Narvaez said all trains along the transit line were put to a stop for about three to four minutes when the MRT-3 control center intervened in the incident at GMA-Kamuning Station.
“Nagkaroon po (ng) intervention through our Control Center kaya na-put on hold for a few minutes ang trains,” the MRT-3 official told reporters via Viber.
The train may have stalled due to “worn-out or defective mechanical components,” Narvaez said.
It would be transported back to the MRT-3 depot in North Avenue to undergo preventive maintenance and replacement of mechanical components, she said.
