Van plows through restaurant; injures driver, 8 diners

Nine people were rushed to a hospital after sustaining injuries when a vehicle crashed into a restaurant at a mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa on Sunday night.

Most of the victims were dining inside a Gerry’s Grill restaurant branch at the Festival Mall when a white Innova van came crashing into the glass wall in reverse. (Check out the restaurant’s CCTV footage by clicking on the link below)

Mall authorities said the driver of the vehicle may have stepped on the gas by mistake, causing the van to ram through the glass wall of the restaurant and plow several customers inside the dining area.

The driver of the vehicle was among the injured individuals, whose names are not yet available as of posting time.

In a statement issued by the management of Festival Mall, the injured victims were immediately taken to the Asian Hospital after the accident. They were all declared safe on Monday morning.

“We would like to extend our most profound appreciation to everyone who helped during this unforeseen event and those who prayed for the injured customers,” Festival Mall said. /jpv
