12,000 cops, soldiers to guard Metro for Holy Week – Albayalde

More than 12,000 police and military personnel will be deployed across Metro Manila to strengthen security for Holy Week, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Oscar Albayalde said on Tuesday.

In a press briefing, Albayalde said 11,801 NCRPO personnel and another 413 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) would be deployed throughout the metropolis’ major thoroughfares, bus terminals and malls to man their police assistance desks.

Albayalde has assured that no threats of terrorism has been monitored so far.

“So far wala naman. Yung mga kumakalat na information still unvalidated unconfined but pag may nakukuha tayong reports we still take it seriously, kino-confirm at bina-validate,” he said.

Meanwhile, Albayalde also Metro Manila residents who would be going to the provinces, to secure their houses against “akyat-bahay” burglars.

In last year’s Holy Week, the NCRPO had recorded 20 “akyat-bahay” incidents in Metro Manila.
