Arraignment of woman who killed husband reset

A Quezon City court has reset the arraignment of a woman who shot her husband dead with a submachine gun, pending her urgent motion to undergo a psychiatric examination.

In a March 16 order, Judge Rosa Samson of the the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 105 ordered Assistant City Prosecutor Edgardo Saplala to comment on the motion of the accused, Josan Mary Capili.

The judge also ordered Dr. Manson Roning, the psychiatrist assigned at the Quezon City Female Dormitory where Capili was detained, to issue a medical certificate attesting the need for an evaluation.

In the motion filed by Judy-Ann Bautista, the accused’s lawyer, she asked for Capili to be transferred to a mental hospital or any government facility specializing in psychiatric disorder.

Capili was arrested on Feb. 19 for killing her husband, PO2 Angeleo Capili, with an Ingram submachine gun equipped with a silencer.

She later called up relatives, telling them repeatedly that she had shot her husband.

Investigators have yet to determine the motive for the killing. —Jhesset O. Enano
