As the class valedictorian of Maragtas (Magiting at Responsableng Alagad ng Batas na Gagabay sa Transpormasyong Alay sa Bayang Sinilangan) Class of 2018, he will receive the Presidential Kampilan Award and Plaque of Merit from President Rodrigo Duterte on their graduation ceremony on March 23 at Camp Mariano Castaneda in Silang, Cavite.

Vallador’s mother, who works as a domestic helper in Spain, won’t make it home for his graduation after her employer did not allow her to come home.

“I’m saddened na ‘di po makakarating ang aking ina pero nagpaliwanag naman po siya sa akin at yung tita ko po yung tumayong nanay sa akin ay siya na lang po muna ang proxy ng nanay ko,” he said.

(I’m saddened that my mother won’t be able to come home but she explained it to me and my aunt who stood as my mom will be her proxy.)

Vallador said he has also never seen his father his entire life: “May tumayo naman pong papa sa akin kaya (Someone stood in as my dad so) it’s just normal.”
