OFW’s son from Negros is PNPA valedictorian

Twenty-four year old Police Cadet Fritz John Napalinga Vallador of Kabankalan, Negros Occidental will lead the 106-member of this year’s graduating class of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).

The top police cadet said he was inspired by his drive to be a respectable law enforcer.

“Pumasok po ako sa PNPA para matupad ko ang aking pangarap na maging mabuting alagad ng batas, pulis po,” he told reporters at Camp Crame on Monday.

As the class valedictorian of Maragtas (Magiting at Responsableng Alagad ng Batas na Gagabay sa Transpormasyong Alay sa Bayang Sinilangan) Class of 2018, he will receive the Presidential Kampilan Award and Plaque of Merit from President Rodrigo Duterte on their graduation ceremony on March 23 at Camp Mariano Castaneda in Silang, Cavite.

Vallador’s mother, who works as a domestic helper in Spain, won’t make it home for his graduation after her employer did not allow her to come home.

“I’m saddened na ‘di po makakarating ang aking ina pero nagpaliwanag naman po siya sa akin at yung tita ko po yung tumayong nanay sa akin ay siya na lang po muna ang proxy ng nanay ko,” he said.

(I’m saddened that my mother won’t be able to come home but she explained it to me and my aunt who stood as my mom will be her proxy.)

Vallador said he has also never seen his father his entire life: “May tumayo naman pong papa sa akin kaya (Someone stood in as my dad so) it’s just normal.”

The rest of the top 10 are:

  • Police Cadet Francis Pang-ay Fagkang of Sadanga, Mt. Province;
  • Police Cadet Jess Torres Agustin of Kabayan, Benguet.
  • Police Cadet Jesstony Fabro Asanion of Sta Cruz, Zambales;
  • Fire Cadet Myrick Aquino Paldingan of Mankayan, Benguet;
  • Police Cadet Christian Villacarlos Juego of Dasmariñas City, Cavite;
  • Police Cadet Cherry Mae Lumogda Montaño of General Santos City;
  • Police Cadet Stephen Torrevillas Abrica of Cebu City;
  • Jail Cadet Arjay Marcaida Cuasay of Parañaque City; and
  • Police Cadet Maricar Sison Ansus of Sorsogon City.

The PNPA Class of 2018 is composed of 97 male and 27 female cadets. Of the 106 members, 76 are joining the PNP, 13 will serve the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and 17 will join the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The cadets will be conferred the degree of Bachelor of Science in Public Safety upon graduation and will be appointed to the initial rank of Inspector, the PNP said. /je
