A neophyte senator was puzzled by former Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas’ lead over Senator Grace Poe during the 2016 presidential race
Even before Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III exposed the alleged irregularities of votes during the last elections, Senator Manny Pacquiao said on Saturday that he was already doubtful about the results.
“Kakatapos pa lang noong election sa 2016, duda na ako sa naging resulta,” (The 2016 elections have just finished and I was already doubting the result), Pacquiao said in an interview with dwIZ.
It is questionable for the Liberal Party’s presidential candidate in 2016 to have higher votes than then independent candidate Grace Poe, said Pacquiao.
“Ang akin doon ay imposibleng … nakakapagtaka na mas lamang pa si Mar Roxas kay Grace Poe,” he said.
Roxas earlier denied the allegations after Senator Nancy Binay accused him that he benefitted from the alleged 2016 national elections controversy.
“Hindi ako nandaya, at hindi ako mandaraya. Alam ko kung gaano kasakit ang madaya dahil mga dalawang milyong boto ang nawala sa akin nung 2010 elections,” Roxas said in a text message.
