Train sweeps 1st-round assignments in Vintage Ball Club X’mas hoopfest

VINTAGE Train swept its 1st round elimination games after nipping Vintage Ship, 96-93 in overtime last Thursday for a clean 3-0 win-loss record in the Vintage Ball Club (VBC)-2011 Christmas basketball tournament at the barangay Pooc Sports Complex in Talisay City.

It was a close match from start to finish with neither team giving the other any leeway.

Trailing by two, 83-85 with three seconds remaining, Vintage Ship’s Bernie Camacho canned a perimeter jumper to tie the count at 85-all and send the game into overtime.

In the extension period, Train outscored Ship, 11-8 to win by three with Ricboy Nacario nailing the game-winning triple.

FEATURED STORIES

Nacario led Vintage Train with 30 points while Bernie Camacho fired 21 points to pace Vintage Ship (1-2).

Earlier, Vintage Plane edged winless Vintage Car, 73-71, to improve to 2-1 on Milo Vellocero’s buzzer-beating lay-up.

Marlon Reyes led Vintage Train with 17 points while Arnel Bas and Leo Gerasmeo paced Vintage Car with 16 points each.
