NU cruises to next round in PCCL
THE NATIONAL University Bulldogs, a team that is playing without reigning MVP Bobby Ray Parks, advanced to the next round of the 2011 Philippine Collegiate Champions League as they whitewashed the University of Northern Philippines, 96-51, yesterday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Emmanuel Mbe led the way with 23 points while Reden Celda finished with 19 for NU. The Bulldogs took control of the game in the second period as they led, 28-17 after back-to-back baskets from center Mbe and Robin Rono.
That lead eventually ballooned to 47-28 as Mbe and Celda each finished with 11 points at halftime.
The result was then never in doubt as the Bulldogs finished the third on top, 72-37, even with three other key players sitting out the game.
Parks is currently in Indonesia playing for the Sinag Pilipinas squad, which is vying for Southeast Asian Games gold.
Next up for the Bulldogs is the National University Heavy Bombers with that game being played tomorrow. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
