Cop killed by riding-in-tandem gunmen in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY-Unidentified riding-in-tandem gunmen shot and killed a policeman on Wednesday noon along Maharlika Highway in Ligao City in Albay province.

Senior Inspector Emmanuel Ramos, spokesperson of Albay police, said Police Officer 2 Daniel Ochoa, a member of the police force in Bula town in Camarines Sur province, instantly died in the attack in Barangay (village) Calzada at 12:05 p.m.

Ochoa, who was driving a car with an unidentified companion on board, was negotiating the highway in the said village when the gunmen on a motorcycle overtook him and fired several rounds of bullets, killing the policeman instantly.

Ramos said the victim and his companion were on their way to the Police Training Center at the Philippine National Police regional office in Camp Simeon Ola here.

Ligao City police immediately launched a pursuit operation against the suspects.
