Lucena police catch thief who displayed loot on Facebook

LUCENA CITY–A suspected thief was caught here Thursday after he displayed his stolen items on his Facebook account, police said Friday.

Supt. Vicente Cabatingan, Lucena police chief, said Chris Ivan Caligagan, 19, reported to the police that he saw his lost Huawei tablet on the Facebook account of one John de Torres, 34, resident of Candelaria town.

Caligagan contacted De Torres for the return of his gadget but the suspect allegedly demanded P3,800.

The victim sought police assistance and eventually arrested the suspect in an entrapment operation in a bus terminal in the outskirts of the city noontime Thursday.
