Oriental Mindoro-Batangas trips resume

CITY OF CALAPAN-Fast craft trips plying the Oriental Mindoro and Batangas routes resumed Wednesday morning, after the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration lifted its gale warning in the two provinces.

Kristine Lubis, information officer of the Philippine Ports Authority in Oriental Mindoro, said fast craft trips resumed at 8 a.m., after being suspended at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, stranding about 903 passengers.

The warning was issued by Pagasa for fishing boats and other small sea vessels, which might be affected by big waves caused by strong winds brought by Tropical Depression “Basyang.”

Roll-on, roll-off (Ro-Ro) vessels had regular trips and were warned big waves.

In Danggay port in Roxas town, Oriental Mindoro, boat trips to Caticlan port in Iloilo province also resumed their trips at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. As of Wednesday afternoon, there were no longer stranded passengers in the ports.
