PUERTO PRINCESA CITY – Local weather authorities here have alerted the southern municipalities of Palawan where Tropical Depression “Basyang” was expected to pass through late afternoon of Wednesday.
Sonny Pajarilla, head of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in Palawan, told officials in a briefing to anticipate heavy rains and possible landslides.
The entire province was placed under storm signal 1 by Pagasa, and the provincial office of the Department of Education has announced a suspension of classes in all levels.
Pajarilla said they expected “Basyang” to pass through the towns of Brooke’s Point and Aborlan, with top winds at 65 kph at around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said they have prepared food packs and prepositioned relief assistance goods in various parts of the province.
