2 kids drown in Quirino

SANTIAGO CITY-Two children drowned in a water impounding canal on Saturday morning (Feb. 3) at Diffun town in Quirino province.

Jamaica Abuan, 11, and Rosemarie Valdez, 9, joined their friends who proceeded to the canal for a swim in Barangay (village) San Isidro, but they sank into the waters after attempting to swim to the other end of the canal.

Villagers near the canal pulled out the children, but they were declared dead on arrival at a local hospital.
