Abra grenade blast kills 2, injures congressman, mayor

Two policemen were killed while at least 10 people were wounded, including a congressman and his wife, in a grenade explosion in the town of La Paz, Abra early Thursday.
Senior Police Officer 3 (SPO3) Robert Melarpis Mailed said one of those injured were Abra Rep. Joseph Sto. Niño Bernos and La Paz Mayor Menchie Bernos, Radyo Inquirer 990 AM reported.
The two policemen who were killed were identified as PO3 Carlos Bocaig and PO2 Frenzel Buneng Kitoyan.
People were celebrating fiesta at the town plaza when a grenade suddenly exploded at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday coinciding with the fireworks display.
