GUINOBATAN, Albay—As heavy ash fall continued to shower over this town, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) ordered the suspension of work from 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Guinobatan, Camalig, and Ligao City were the most affected areas by ash fall since early Tuesday due to a series of eruptions of Mayon Volcano.
However, work still continued for “those engaged in peace and order, health, social services, and disaster management,” according to the order released by Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara and PDRRMC chairman.
Alert Level 4 remained over Mayon Volcano as the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) continued to monitor explosion-type earthquakes that emitted ash columns.
From 9:37 p.m. Monday to 5:25 a.m. Tuesday, Phivolcs recorded five sporadic lava fountaining from the crater.
A series of loud rumbling sounds can be heard even from Ilawod, a village in Guinobatan, some 12 kilometers away from the crater.#
