Duterte names ex-Army chief to BCDA

Another former military man is joining the government as President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed retired Army chief Lt. Gen. Glorioso Miranda to the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).
Duterte signed Miranda’s appointment paper on January 9 but was released to the media on Friday.
Miranda was appointed as member of the board of directors of the BCDA to serve the unexpired term of office of Serafin Salvador. The retired army chief will assume his post until June 30, 2018.
Miranda, a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Matikas” Class of 1983, served as the acting commanding general of the Philippine Army from December 2016 until his retirement in October 2017.
Duterte has previously appointed several military men in his Cabinet, including Gen. Eduardo Año, former chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and now officer-in-charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government.
He has also appointed retired Gen. Roy Cimatu, who was AFP chief of staff from September 2001 up to May 2002, as Environment Secretary; and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, who was AFP chief of staff from 2006-2008 and chief of the Presidential Security Group in 2002-2004.
