DID YOU KNOW: UST gets “royal” title

On Jan. 10, 1785, through a cedula, King Charles III of Spain granted the title “Royal” to the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.

The title was in recognition of the services rendered by the university’s professors and students in the war against the British. —Marielle Medina
