Sereno calls off work in Manila courts on Jan. 9

Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Wednesday ordered the suspension of work in all courts in Manila on Jan. 9.

Theodore Te, the high court’s spokesperson, said Sereno’s order covered the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and the first and second level trial courts in Manila.

He said the Chief Justice opted to declare a work suspension in anticipation of the “difficulty of travel to and from the courts located in the city of Manila due to the annual procession of the Black Nazarene.” —Marlon Ramos
