Taguig sets New Year’s Eve firecracker zones

Taguig has designated specific zones in the city where its citizens can use authorized firecrackers in greeting the New Year.

In an advisory on Saturday, the Taguig Public Information Office (PIO) announced the following areas designated as firecracker zones:

The barangays of Taguig–Ibayo-Tipas, Maharlika, Central Bicutan, North Signal, Western Bicutan, Upper Bicutan and North Daang Hari have only been allowed community fireworks displays, the Taguig PIO said.

In a statement, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano assured that authorities have heightened security and safety preparations for the welcoming of the New Year.

Cayetano warned that persons caught using unauthorized firecrackers would be apprehended for violation of RA 7183 or “An Act Regulating the Sale, Manufacture, Distribution and Use of Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices.”

“We want to make these holiday celebrations peaceful, orderly and safe for all Taguigeños who will be spending quality time with their families, so rest assured that we will double our efforts in providing assistance to them, as well as go after anyone violating RA 7183 and EO 28,” Cayetano said. /cbb
