6 injured in Edsa-Shaw accident, including ABS-CBN’s Doris Bigornia
Six persons, including a TV reporter and her crew, were hurt when a sports utility vehicle allegedly went into overdrive along Edsa-Shaw in Mandaluyong on Thursday afternoon.
Bong Nebrija, supervising officer for operations of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), identified two of the injured as ABS-CBN reporter Doris Bigornia and her crew member Marcopolo Gutierrez, who were on board their crew van. They were rushed to the Medical City hospital in Pasig.
Also injured were a driver of a motorcycle, the driver and a passenger of Toyota Vios which was a Grab vehicle, and a passenger of a Montero Sport with unspecified plate number. Another Mitsubishi Mirage was involved in the traffic mishap.
Nebrija said most of the victims sustained minor injuries in the head and body.
According to MMDA, the accident happened around 1:45 p.m. when a Montero Sport with plate number PQS 314 on Edsa-Shaw tunnel northbound “suddenly went wild,” and crossed the center island and rammed into a Toyota Vios bound south.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Vios then crashed into another Montero Sport which flipped and hit the van of Bigornia and her crew. The impact also led to a chain of collisions involving a Mirage and a motorcycle.

The accident led to the temporary closure of the Edsa-Shaw underpass and caused a traffic standstill along the stretch of Edsa from Ayala to Kamuning. The vehicles were cleared of the road at 3:28 p.m. /je
